Meet Dr. Cynthia Edwards-Hawver, Psy.D.
Dr. Cynthia Edwards-Hawver is licensed psychologist with 25 years of experience. She graduated from Cornell University (with a Bachelor of Science with Distinction) and completed her Doctoral Degree at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She went on to complete her APA (American Psychological Association) accredited internship at The Pennsylvania State University. After her internship she worked at The University of Scranton for five years before starting her private practice full time. She ran a thriving brick and mortar private practice for 18 years, until recently selling her practice and moving to full time telehealth to be home with her boys. Currently Dr. Edwards-Hawver is a member of PSYPACT (Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology), which allows her to practice telehealth in all APPIC-approved states. Dr. Cynthia has extensive expertise in eating disorders, trauma, burnout, parenting, emotional abuse, antagonistic relational dynamics, partners of substance abusers, gaslighting, grief, navigating divorce, coparenting, generational trauma, Lyme Disease, and Hypnosis. As a newly single mom parenting in her 50’s, she is passionate about helping moms parent at midlife with strong boundaries, self-compassion, and happiness.
Dr. Cynthia takes her years of training and practicing psychodynamic/IFT/interpersonal/humanistic/existential therapies combined with advance coaching certification, practicing therapeutic coaching. Her passion is to go deep with clients to discover the core of what is causing distress, recognize patterns, and work towards growth, change, and radical acceptance. She recognizes that healing is a journey and a process.
On a personal level, Dr. Cynthia has taken all of the things she has been through in life to help others. Surviving an eating disorder that nearly killed her due to heart failure, childhood trauma, infertility, adoption, becoming a mom at 40, many deaths including her mother suddenly during covid followed by her step-father, living with Chronic Lyme Disease, loss of her 31 year marriage, extreme burnout, and learning to embrace single parenting at the age of 52.
You will find her healing, embarking on her new career journey, and raising her two amazing boys, Thomas (12) and Lucas (10). At age 52 she is finding out who she truly is for the first time and embracing her new role as a single mom. She loves to travel with her boys and thrives being in nature near the water and traveling to the ocean as much as possible. She is in the process of working on her forth coming book, re-launching The Mama Shrink Podcast, and providing therapeutic coaching to high functioning moms throughout the world.
